Sit the listing-path staff year or the default lab seat

A 26-year-old planning 2027 should treat Anthropic and OpenAI as two next staff seats, not one frontier band. Anthropic staff engineer prints $1.25M typical on the ledger with a $300k base, sample nine, marked hot. OpenAI prints $1.16M typical with a $363k base, sample twelve, also hot. The listing-path leads typical by about $90k. The default lab leads base by sixty-three thousand and sample size. Anthropic amended its S-1 on 2 November adding Q3 revenue of about $17 billion and $895 billion in compute commitments. Junior technical hires fell as agent hours hit 6× staff hours. That filing and the hiring shift do not reprice the seats. OpenAI is racing a private raise ahead of the listing. That capital does not reprice these seats either. If you can hold paper and want the safety-focused book further along the public path, sit Anthropic first. If you want the larger product loop and higher base, sit OpenAI — but name the mix. Do not treat a $1.25M listing-path year and a $1.16M default year as the same next seat.
